Dr. Thomas R. Karl

Tom Karl is the Director of NOAA's National Climatic Data Center and is NOAA's Program Manager for Climate Observations and Analysis. Dr. Karl is author of many climatic atlases and technical reports, and has published over 150 articles in various scientific journals. Dr. Karl was part of the IPCC process that received the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, serving as Lead Author on several IPCC Assessments and most recently as a Review Editor. Dr. Karl is a fellow of the American Meteorological Society and the American Geophysical Union, and a National Associate of the National Research Council. In 2002, he was elected to serve on the Council of the American Meteorological Society and has recently been elected to serve a term as President of the Society.
