We will be meeting in Room 400 of NOAA's National Climatic Data Center in Asheville.

ACCESS TO NCDC
NOAA employees should bring their NOAA badges with them. Non-NOAA employees will need a Visitor badge to enter NCDC.
Please be sure your name appears on the Participant List (above); if it does not, you will not have a badge at NCDC. Please contact Brian Jackson to confirm your attendance at the meeting, if you have not already done so. You may pick up your visitor badge at the security desk at NCDC.
When you leave NCDC following the conclusion of the meeting on the 11th, please drop your Visitor Badge at the security desk.
ACCOMMODATIONS
A block of rooms is being held for our group for the nights of 9-10 June 2008 at the Renaissance Asheville. The government room rate is $76.00 plus 10.75% tax per night ($84.17 total).
The hotel is within walking distance to many restaurants as well as NCDC (depending on the weather), so a rental car is not absolutely necessary (See TRANSPORTATION below).
PLEASE NOTE: All reservations are being made through Brian Jackson at UCAR-JOSS, bjackson_at_ucar.edu,
303-497-8663. The deadline to make your reservations is
Friday, 23 May 2008. Please contact Brian with your
arrival and departure dates as soon as possible.
After 23 May, reservations will be accepted on a space- and rate-available basis only.
UCAR-supported attendees - See TRAVEL below. Room and tax charges for UCAR-supported participants will be direct-billed to UCAR. UCAR-supported attendees are responsible for all incidental expenses.
Check-in: 4:00 p.m. Check-out: 11:00 a.m.
Cancellation Policy: Reservations must be canceled by 6:00 p.m. on the scheduled day of arrival to avoid a no-show charge. Please contact Brian to cancel or change your reservation. Should you need to have your reservation cancelled, you will be provided with a cancellation number.
The CONUS M&IE rate for Asheville currently is $49.00.
WORKING LUNCHES
Please note that working lunches will be provided on Tuesday and Wednesday, 10-11 June. It is assumed that all meeting participants will attend.
UCAR-supported attendees - $26.00 for the lunches will be deducted from the travel expense reimbursement claims of those attendees receiving travel support from UCAR.
GROUP DINNER
There will be a Group Dinner on Tuesday evening, 10 June, at the Café on the Square in downtown Asheville. It is assumed that all meeting participants will attend.
If you do not wish to attend the group dinner, please contact Brian Jackson before Friday, 30 May 2008.
UCAR-supported attendees - $24.00 for the dinner will be deducted from the travel expense reimbursement claims of those attendees receiving travel support from UCAR.

An Apple OSX Titanium laptop and a Dell PC latptop will be used for all presentation projections.
AUDIO VISUAL/WIRELESS AT NCDC
High-speed wireless Internet connectivity is available in Room 400 at NCDC. Access instructions will be provided onsite.

It takes approximately 15 minutes to walk from the Renaissance Asheville to NCDC.
PARKING AT NCDC There is no parking available at the Federal Building. Parking is available at the parking garage on Otis Street, which is adjacent to the Federal Building.
Fee: $5.00 hourly, $23.00 daily.

UCAR-supported attendees - Travel arrangements for non-federal attendees will be handled by Brian Jackson through UCAR. Travel support includes round-trip airfare, lodging, per diem, misc. ground transportation and airport parking.

TRAVEL TO ASHEVILLE
Flights are available from National and BWI, as well as Dulles. There are no direct flights from D.C. area.
The two main hubs into Asheville (several flights per day) are Charlotte, N.C. (US Airways) and Atlanta (Delta). There are a few flights per day from Cincinnati (Delta).
