GENERAL LOGISTICS

  • Lodging
    A block of rooms is being held at The Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston:

    Please note that the cut-off date for reservations was 30 December 2005, although reservations continue to be accepted on a space- and rate-available basis.

    Participants may make reservations by calling 1-843-722-0600 or 1-877-756-2121 (toll-free). Please be sure to identify yourself as a member of "OHHI Principal Investigators Meeting" to ensure that you receive the special Group Rate of $89.00 + 12.5% tax/night ($100.13), if available. A credit card is required to guarantee your reservation.

    Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. Check-out time is 12:00 p.m.

    An early departure fee of $44.50 plus 6.5% sales tax will apply to reservations that are changed after check-in.

    If you wish to cancel your reservation, please do so 72 hours prior to the day of your arrival to avoid cancellation penalties.

    Valet parking is available in the City Garage located next door to the Hotel at a $15 per 24 hours charge for overnight hotel guests. This charge will be automatically charged to your room bill.
    Self-parking also is available in the City Garage at a $10 per 24 hours charge for overnight hotel guests, and is payable in cash to the garage attendant.
    For local attendees, parking at the City Garage is charged by the hour.


  • Meeting Venue
    The opening plenary session will be held in the Carolina A Ballroom.
    Breakout space will be announced onsite.


  • Poster Session (Updated - 1/12/06)
    There will be formal a poster session and reception on Wednesday evening, in the Carolina B Ballroom, adjacent to our plenary meeting space. We have space for 30 posters, and posters should be no larger than 4'x4'. The poster boards have cork surfaces and pushpins will be provided onsite. Posters may be left up for the duration of the meeting
    If you plan to bring a poster, please contact Brian Jackson to ensure that you will have display space.


  • Working Lunches (NEW - 1/12/06)
    Working lunches will provided on Wednesday and Thursday. Federal employees are requested to contribute $22.00 onsite for both lunches. This is the Lunch portion of the GSA per diem for Charleston. Please make your check payable to "UCAR". Cash also will be accepted...exact change please! Printed receipts will be provided by mail upon request following the meeting.


  • Group Dinner (NEW - 1/12/06)
    A Group Dinner will be held Thursday evening at Ft. Johnson in Charleston. Federal employees are requested to contribute $28.00 onsite for the dinner. This is the Dinner portion of the GSA per diem for Charleston. Please make your check payable to "UCAR". Cash also will be accepted...exact change please! Printed receipts will be provided by mail upon request following the meeting. Transportation will be provided to and from Fort Johnson.
