    If you have not done so already, please confirm officially your intention to attend the meeting by sending a message as soon as possible, but no later than C.O.B. on Wednesday, 15 August, to Brian Jackson.

    Also, please review the attached tentative participant list, and send any corrections to your contact information to Brian Jackson. Revised participant lists will be posted to the Web site and announced on a regular basis.

      LODGING
      A block of rooms is being held for our group for the nights of 9-10 September 2007. The FY07 government room rate is $195.00 plus 12% tax ($218.40) per night.

      RESERVATIONS (UPDATED! 8/13/07)
      To make your hotel reservation, please call 1-800-HILTONS (445-8667) (Toll-free) or (1) 301-589-5200. Please be sure to reference Group Code "GCC". You will be asked to provide a credit card number in order to guarantee your hotel reservation. If you are unable to attend the meeting, you must cancel your reservation before 6:00 p.m. local time on the day of your scheduled arrival in order to avoid a no-show charge equal to one night's room and tax ($218.40).

      The cut-off date for making reservations has been extended until Friday, 17 August 2007.

      (NEW! 7/31/07) NOTE: If you also plan to attend the "Southern Ocean Gas Exchange Experiment" (GasEx) Meeting at the Hilton Washington D.C./Silver Spring on 12 September, you will need to make a separate reservation for the night of 11 September. Please reference reservation group code "GSX".


      EARLY DEPARTURE FEE
      Please note that there is a $50.00 Early Departure Fee for those who check out early without providing 24 hours notice to the hotel. You will be asked at check-in about the duration of your stay.

      Check-in: 3:00 p.m. Check-out: 12:00 p.m.

    The FY07 CONUS M&IE rate for Silver Spring currently is $64.00.


    MEETING VENUE (UPDATED! 8/28/07)
    The Global Carbon Cycle Program Principal Investigators Meeting will be held in the Potomac Ballroom on the ground floor. The poster session will be held in the Capitol Ballroom on the first floor.

    CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST (UPDATED! 8/28/07)
    Continental breakfast will be served at 8:00 a.m. on 10-11 September, just outside the Potomac Ballroom.


    WORKING LUNCH (UPDATED! 7/31/07)
    Please note that a working lunch will be provided on 10 September. It is assumed that all meeting participants will attend.

      Federal attendees - Please note that UCAR is not allowed to provide meals for federal employees. Therefore, federal employees are requested to contribute $18.00 towards the cost of the lunch (the lunch portion of the M&IE for Silver Spring in September). See PAYMENT below.

      UCAR-supported attendees - $18.00 for the lunch will be deducted from the travel expense reimbursement claims of those attendees receiving travel support from UCAR.


    RECEPTION AND POSTER SESSION (UPDATED! 8/28/07)
    There will be a Reception and Poster Session on Monday evening, 10 September, 5:00-7:30 p.m. The poster session will be held in the Capitol Ballroom on the first floor. Posters may be put in place starting Sunday evening, 9 September.

    It is now possible for federal attendees to pay for their meals via the Internet. Please note that UCAR accepts Visa and MasterCard only.

    To make payment for federal attendees:

      1. Please proceed to https://www.fin.ucar.edu/epayment/startEpayments.do

      2. Under "Payment Select", click on "Other Items" and then from the drop-down menu, choose "GCC PI Meeting - Silver Spring - 10-11 Sept. 2007 - Reg. Fee", and then click on the "Next" button.

      3. On the following screen, enter the amount ($18.00) and fill in your billing information. When you are ready, click on the "Start Process" button.

      4. You will receive an e-mail confirming your payment.

    If you prefer to pay by check, please make it payable to "UCAR". Brian Jackson will accept checks onsite in Silver Spring or by mail. Please mail checks to:

    PRESENTATIONS (UPDATED! 9/9/07)
    An Apple OSX Titanium laptop will be used for all presentation projections. However, if your PowerPoint presentation was prepared on a PC and contains animations, please plan to use your own PC laptop to make your presentation.
