Off-Site Employee and Salaried Visitor Orientation
3-5 June 1996
The Joint Office for Science Support organized a three-day orientation in Boulder for our off-site employees and salaried visitors. The orientation was attended by 18 staff members. The purpose of the orientation was to acquaint off-site staff/visitors with the PSG Boulder staff, and to better familiarize them with UCAR policies and procedures as well as with the Corporation in general.
On Monday, the group toured the Mesa Lab, led by Rene Munoz . Ginger Caldwell showed them SCD's computer facilities, and Leslie Forehand demonstrated services offered on the Internet by the NCAR Library. Carlye Calvin assembled the group for a photo (105K). In the afternoon, a general overview of UCAR, UOP, and JOSS, was made to the group, with talks by UCAR President Rick Anthes, Dave Fulker (UOP Acting Director for Bill Pennell), JICP/PO Director Karyn Sawyer, and PSG Manager Gene Martin. The overview was followed by a picnic at Karyn's home.
On Tuesday, several informational sessions were held at the Foothills Lab, with presentations made by representatives from the following departments:
- Human Resources - Laurie Carr, Bob Roesch, and Terry Woods
- Benefits - Cyd Perrone
- Payroll - Barb Bunting
- Travel - Shelley Richards-Craig and Angie Yarbrough
- Contracts & Purchasing - Allen Morgan, Connie Nyffeler, and Ralph Price
- Health, Environment, and Safety Services - Steve Sadler and Ginger Hein
On Wednesday, an in-depth presentation of the TIAA-CREF retirement plan was given by Carol Belica of TIAA-CREF and Cyd Perrone, followed by individual consultations.
