APROPOS WORKSHOP

The Apropos meeting is being held December 15 - 17, 1997, at Asilomar, a conference facility and California State park located on the Pacific Ocean in Pacific Grove, a few minutes by car from downtown Monterey. A detailed description of Asilomar can be found at: http://www.worldint.com/asilomar.
Quoting from Asilomar's web-page: "Asilomar ("Refuge-by-the-sea") is located on the tip of California's Monterey Peninsula overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Asilomar occupies 109 secluded acres of forest and sand dunes near the northern entrance to the 17-Mile Drive and is just minutes from the Peninsula's world famous golf courses, fishing, shopping and dining in nearby Carmel, Monterey, and Pacific Grove. Sea otters and seals swim off-shore. Deer and raccoon live on the grounds. And, the tide pools of Asilomar State Beach are a short stroll along the boardwalk through the dunes. Asilomar's lodging, meeting and dining rooms are secluded and sheltered by Monterey pines and cypresses.

The original buildings, designed by noted architect Julia Morgan, date back to 1913 and were built to harmonize with the natural surroundings. Eleven buildings are National Historical Landmarks. A continuing capital improvement program has extensively and effectively refurbished the older buildings and expanded both meeting facilities and lodging accommodations."
