It's your Future - we need your help

Dear Colleagues Interested in the Future of Chemical Oceanography:

This web site provides the community with information and a forum for the Future of Chemical Oceanography in the U.S. (FOCUS) project, initiated by the Chemical Oceanography (CO) Program at NSF. We hope to obtain your participation in this assessment.

The main goal of FOCUS is to produce a document that summarizes the status of Chemical Oceanography, identifies major questions and research trajectories for the future, assesses gaps and unknowns and assesses the present status of people and facilities in the field of CO. For further information see the first section of this web-page: What, When, How and Why.

A group of 39 scientists attended the workshop to frame this report, but the involvement of the greater fraction of the community is essential to its success and usefulness. We invite you to participate in achieving the FOCUS goals. Your involvement can be provided via this web-site (which can be posted anonymously if you wish; please indicate so) or by letter or email to any of the steering committee members."

Thank you for your participation.

Sincerely yours,

Ellen Druffel
Larry Mayer
(Co-Chairs of FOCUS)
